Are you geared up to keep your future talent by your side?

Here at CHaRM, we think retention of talent is key for employers, especially as figures show that net migration has fallen and feedback from recruiters is that finding talent is getting harder still.

75% of UK based HR professionals told the CIPD that their organisation experienced recruitment difficulties in the last year. 72% of HR professionals say that they expect competition for well-qualified candidates to increase as Britain moves towards an exit from the EU. Figures from Hays showed that 62% of staff planned to move employers during 2017, with 27% citing a lack of career development opportunities as the reason for wanting to move on.

Put these two elements together and you could lose some talented people who would fill key positions in the future within your organisation. We know this is already happening among our client base, even in good companies who do provide some development (albeit haphazardly).

To help employers retain and develop their top performers and their best talent for the long term benefit of their business, we have introduced a Talent Development Programme aimed at increasing retention and nurturing a culture of continual learning amongst staff members.

The focus of this programme is on retention for small to medium sized employers particularly, who won’t be able to compete financially with some of the bigger companies for the best talent when it comes to salary and benefits, but who really need to keep hold of their top performers. Running over a period of two years, the Talent Development Programme is ideal for new and future managers who form part of a Company’s succession plan, as well as key personnel who have specialist skills and knowledge and top performers who contribute most to an organisation.

We know that talent development works. As one of our satisfied participants recently said:

"Recently I have been promoted to Sales Director within my Company after entering a senior manager role five years ago. This has come about in no small part due to the support from CHaRM. The development support from CHaRM has made our company a more effective business because of the harnessing of employee abilities."

We know that this is something that is sorely needed in the market. Here at CHaRM we believe that SMEs should have access to the same quality of HR support as multi-nationals and once they have it they can thrive on good quality information about their businesses and their main assets, their employees. If more SME businesses thought like bigger businesses when it comes to their people they would reap huge rewards.
